Learning Summary

Lesson 1: Norms of Collaboration and Classroom Behaviors
This lesson is designed to introduce students to the norms of collaboration and have them work in small groups to devise a Collaboration Classroom Behavior Contract.

Lesson 2: Collaborating and Communicating
Students will collaborate within small groups and debrief their experience and will discuss and
practice positive communication skills (listening and speaking) that contribute to teamwork.

Lesson 3: Practice Collaborating & Providing Feedback
Students will collaborate to reach consensus on an interpretation of a painting and will practice
giving and receiving feedback in the form of “I” statements.

Lesson 4: JIGSAW
Students will work together collaboratively, with accountability, to learn about something new
using the Jigsaw Method.

Lesson 5: Conflict Resolution
Students learn strategies to handle conflict and work in teams to create skits applying steps of a
collaborative conflict resolution strategy.

Project: Collaborating for Good
The ‘Collaborating for Good’ project requires students to collaborate with a team to identify a problem in their school and then create and implement an Action Plan to solve it.
